NYC, New York – Trump Tower

The real estate tycoon Donald Trump symbolises the new wealth of the 1980s. His glitzy apartment, retail and office tower is an expression of the affluence and excesses of that era. Its public space, an opulent six-storey atrium, is an extravagance of pink white-veined marble, brass and mirrors with hanging gardens. Its 230 over-sized luxury apartments rise above Manhattan and the East River, cleverly offering views in three directions, including an unobstructed view of Central Park. Trump himself lives in the Tower’s triplex penthouse valued at $100 million, and his neighbours are other members of New York’s wealthy elite. Although the residences can’t be visited, they were seen in Trump’s reality TV show The Apprentice.

As a symbolic representation of American entrepreneurship, the Trump Tower is a beautifully constructed and designed building.
