New York State Tenant Rights?
New York State Tenant Rights?
I need a little help with New York State housing laws. I rent an apartment in a three story building (I live on the third floor). The bottom floor is occupied by a restaurant but the second and third floors are apartments. Recently, the second floor apartment directly below mine was purchased and converted into a dance studio. They have done no renovations (aka no sound proofing) and hold sessions such as “Crazy Hour” for 6 year olds at 8:00am. They also have a large drum set that they let kids play as late as 10:00pm. As you can guess, they have been driving us up the wall.
My question is: is there not some law that prohibits commercial businesses from operating in residential areas? I know there are certain laws pertaining to construction (that they can only do work during certain time periods). Is there something similar for my situation?
